Help make the state of the field visible

NATIONAL LISTENING INITIATIVE

Health equity work is being reshaped in real time.

The Health Equity Pulse gathers perspectives from people across public health, healthcare, research, policy, community organizations, and related fields to better understand what they are experiencing, what is changing, and what support the work requires now.

Open to members and nonmembers · Approximately 3 minutes · Open through December 31, 2026

Individual experiences can reveal a larger pattern

Changes in funding, staffing, language, institutional priorities, and professional conditions are often experienced one role, organization, program, or community at a time.

When those experiences remain isolated, it becomes harder to understand what is happening across the field - and easier to treat shared pressures as individual circumstances.

The Health Equity Pulse brings perspectives together to help identify emerging patterns, clarify what people are navigating, and make the current conditions surrounding health equity work more visible.

What is changing. What is needed. What must not be lost.

The Pulse focuses on the conditions affecting people carrying health equity work forward:

Changing conditions

How funding, staffing, institutional support, communication, and professional roles are shifting.

The path ahead

What gives people hope, what progress may be at risk, and what the field cannot afford to lose.

Current needs

What kinds of practical support, connection, recognition, and infrastructure people believe would be most useful.

From individual perspective to shared understanding

Health Equity Pulse findings will help AHEA understand changing conditions across the field and inform its public reporting, organizational priorities, tools, forums, and future programs.

Responses may also inform future State of Health Equity reporting alongside other evidence, data, and sources of professional and community insight.

AHEA may:

  • Identify emerging pressures and priorities

  • Inform tools, programs, publications, and national initiatives

  • Share collective insights with the wider field

Email addresses will not appear in public reporting or be shared publicly. AHEA will not use your email for promotional communication unless you separately choose to receive updates.

Findings will be reported collectively. Any excerpts from written responses used publicly will be de-identified and used only with the respondent’s permission.

The Pulse is an open, voluntary listening initiative. Its findings provide insight into what participants report but are not intended to represent every person, organization, community, or experience across the field.
